VFUG Instant Messenger (VIM) Log On Page Help

Here is where you log on to the IM Server. You must enter the user ID and password you entered when you joined this service. No other operations are available to you until you log on.

User Info

Read Only -- Displays your current information as determined by the VIM Request to the server. If "any" of this info is not correct then please Log On again as some corruption may have occurred.

All the fields are self explanatory except maybe:

New Msgs: The number of messages posted to the Forum since your last Log On.
Total: The total number of messages currently on the Forum.

User Log On

User ID: The User ID you used when you created (or last edited) your VFUG account.
Password: The Password you chose when you created (or last edited) your VFUG account.

User Preferences

Tool Tips: Choose whether you wish to view "Tool Tips" (Helpful Hints Messages) when using VIM. Leave enabled at least until you are comfortable using VIM.
Remember PW: Whether or not you want VIM to store on disk your User ID and (encrypted) password for easier Log Ons in the future.
Bell: Do you want an audible sound when certain VIM events occur.
Alt Server Port: Use the Alternate Server Port -- Do not use this option unless you are having problems Logging On.

Log On

Log On Button: When clicked or pressed begins the Log On operation to the VIM Server.

Please Note: The other pages on VIM (such as Instant Message) are not available to you until after you have logged in.

Quit

Quit Command Button: Terminates the VIM application.

IE Browser

IE Browser Command Button: Opens up an instance of Microsoft Internet Explorer and takes you inside of the web site. This is a time saving feature as you will not have to log on a second time. This option will let you explore other areas of the web site that are not accessible to from VIM.

Status

Status Line: At the bottom of the page frame and just above the Copyright notice is the Status line. System messages will appear here as you use VIM. Keep an eye there as it will present a lot of valuable information as you use VIM.
